Zoning Permits

Zoning permits are required for new home and business construction, additions, fences, signs, etc. Approval must be received from the City Office before any work can begin. This is not a building permit.

Dump Hours

The roll-off site is located two miles north of Choteau on Hwy 220. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. They are closed on Holidays.

For a list of charges, please contact the roll-off site at 406-278-3095 or 866-378-3095

Garbage Schedule

The map shows the current sanitation pick up routes, with sanitation crews working one route per day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Please note that the pick up days will change during holiday weeks.

Reservations for the Pavilion and the band shell are handled through the city office. For current rental rates for the Pavilion, please call 406-466-2510. While there is no charge for the band shell on its own, reservations are still encouraged to ensure the space for your use. Events at the Pavilion often have their own music or are informative (where music would be a distraction). Unscheduled performers will be asked to vacate the band shell, as scheduled events will take precedence.

Pet Licenses

The City of Choteau requires all dogs and cats living in the City limits to be licensed within 15 days of arriving or within 15 days of the animal reaching the age of 4 months. Proof of rabies vaccination is required at the time of licensing. Licenses are good from January to December. Licenses are available for renewal in December and January. After February 1st, there will be a ten dollar penalty applied for each license.

Our Campground

The City Campground is located just south of the City Park. It is open year round; however, access to water and restrooms is limited to the summer months. The fee is ten dollars per night per vehicle and is on the honor system. Camping is first come first served, no reservations are taken.

Recycling

The City of Choteau encourages recycling! We currently accept cardboard, aluminum cans and steel cans for recycling. We also accept grass clippings and tree leaves (no sticks) at the compost bin.

The recycling center and compost bin is located next to the dog park (across from the Weatherbeater), on the east side of the railroad tracks.
